Hamilton at Uihlein Hall

Show writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off the breakout success from his last Broadway show, In the Heights, conceptualized Hamilton for a couple of years before it opened in the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2015. It was in this opening that he also acted the title role. The whole Musical, including its stellar cast and awesome music received extremely regarded praise from both critics and the audiences alike.

The production, as almost all know, is a historical story that centers on one of Americas Founding Fathers, but Hamilton takes a new and forward-thinking approach, as seen in the music genres used and more so in its multicultural cast. Also, the 70th Tony Awards, where Hamilton bagged 11 out of 16 nominations, is a display of its success. Hamilton’s first cast was made up of the likes of Philippa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jonathan Groff. Individually, the cast was already filled with both notable nominees and previous award winners, but their diverse and rich performances collected together brought the show to a whole new level. The creative team, just as equally talented, won Tony Awards for Hamilton. Thomas Kail for Best Direction, Andy Blankenbuehler for Best Choreography, Alex Lacamoire for Best Orchestrations, Howell Binkley for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design of a Musical, and of course the man himself Lin-Manuel Miranda for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, all topped the 70th Tony Awards. Additionally, and unsurprisingly, Hamilton also won Best Musical for 2016. The touring cast and production crew in each new venue where Hamilton is put on brings the same grit and enthusiasm in their nights, with favorable reviews posted consistently.

Hamilton’s meteoric rise to fame led to opening many doors worldwide for audiences to experience Hamilton. It has continued for the past decade to perform not just in the U.S., but also over in the UK's West End and in various theaters across Asia. The Musical’s touring production will be making its way to Milwaukee throughout January (and on Friday 30th January 2026) at Uihlein Hall at Marcus Center For The Performing Arts, selling out at one more world-class stage with the leading facilities and sound engineering that could surpass even Broadway and West End theaters.
